Joey Pepper-Mellusi, the Founder/Brewer of Schenker Beer Company got his start in the craft beer industry in 2011 working as a barback at @theponybarnyc . In his spare time, he began homebrewing and mostly focused on making fruited mixed fermentation beers. Eventually, he moved on to help open @torst_nyc in 2013, where he was proud to help establish one of the greatest beer programs in the world.
While at Tørst, he helped curate the beer pairing for their tasting menu restaurant, Luksus, which achieved the honor of being the first beer-only Michelin starred restaurant in the world. While he loved his time in hospitality, he knew that his passions were more rooted in brewing.
In 2016, he left Tørst to pursue brewing full time at Folksbier in Brooklyn, where he became Head Brewer from 2017 until its closure. During that time, he was able to hone his brewing skills, develop his own recipes, and supply beers he loves to the greater NYC area.
With all his expertise, Schenker Beer Company was born.
