About

Fontanacota has been producing typical wines from Western Liguria for over 20 years.

The history of their wines is rooted in a small area, blessed with a favorable climate and exposure, located in the Prino Valley in the hinterland of Porto Maurizio: Fontanacota. Here, the family vineyards, primarily Vermentino, were and are located, cultivated since the post-World War II period. In the olive groves and vineyards, the colorful plumage of the hoopoe, the March cockerel, heralded spring and the first buds.

From this tradition, the Fontanacota Agricultural Company was born in 2001.

This very year, the winery opened in Ponti di Pornassio, in the Arroscia Valley. They are on the border between Liguria and Piedmont, but also a stone’s throw from France. The winery blends seamlessly into a historic building in the village, preserving its characteristic features and traditions while maintaining a modern and rational design. The location was chosen for its ideal climate for grape processing and wine storage. Thus, alongside the white wines, a high-quality, traditional Ligurian red, Ormeasco di Pornassio, grown and produced in its place of origin, is now available.
